Separate Ink Cartridges for Lower Cost-Per-Disc

Fujitsu fi-6140

Small businesses and distributed scanning applications are the ideal market for this sheet fed, full 24 bit colour, duplex scanner. With a recommended daily duty cycle of up to 3000 A4 documents per day and the ability to scan at 60ppm / 120 ipm in mono or 40ipm / 80 ipm in full 24 bit colour.

Government Solutions: Taiwan Launches Healthcare Smart Card

Requirements:
The Government of Taiwan, endeavoring to update their healthcare identification process,
required a program to migrate from a traditional paper based card to a plastic card with a smart
chip. Although the card is primarily a healthcare card, it will also be used as a valid identification document.
Solution:
• Data is collected from an already established base of enrollment and image capture centers.
• Data is transferred to a centralized database.
• Cards are produced on the Datacard® 9000 Series card issuance system from a centralized site.
• The 9000 Series configuration includes a smart card module,
which allows personalization
of the smart chip.
• The personalized chip card can be used online to pay medical premiums and update records every time the card is used.

The Government of Taiwan decided to launch a healthcare smart card to replace several paper documents and cards used for a range of healthcare programs. The new card will be issued to a population base of over 22 million citizens as well as to foreigners holding a valid work permit.
The new smart card will help to reduce fraud, streamline the billing process and improve customer service. In addition, the data on the smart chip can be updated every time the citizen visits a doctor or clinic and citizens can pay medical premiums through the Internet while updating the data on their card.
The composite card includes a smart chip, color photo, secure microtext printing, Optical
Variable Ink (OVI) printing as well as Ultra Violet printing. The card will have an estimated life of 5 to 7 years.
The addition of the color photo allows the card to be used as a valid identification document.

Corporate Profile

Problem Met
Located in Gaoqiao, Pudong, Shanghai, BASF’s plant uses all types of adhesives to stick 1/4 or 1/2 A4-sized labels on blue plastic containers. BASF’s SAP system requires label information printed in Chinese and English on the same form, as well as the BASF logo, basic plant information, chemical name, lot number, material number and EAN128 code.
BASF employed bar-code printers from other suppliers , but these failed to meet the requirements of the SAP system. With merely three labels printed per minute, it was too slow and was often out of order leading to lost revenue and frustrated operators.
Results
Recommended by Printronix’s local agent, the T5304r was put into trial use by BASF. Printronix offered seamless integration of the T5304 with existing SAP software, giving BASF increased speed and complete adaptability with the printing environment. The T5304 has excellent stability allowing plant operators to concentration attention on production.
